Timeline

1940
s
Singapore Trading Co. (STC) first opened its doors in Hong Kong in the late 1940s. Mainly dealing with importing and exporting goods to China, it quickly found partnerships within the starch trading business including Meelunie from the Netherlands.
1950
s
International trade has been the driving force of the business. In the 1950s our subsidiary in Macau, SengVa was established and mainly dealt in oils, beans and other foodstuff.
1960
s
With the import ban due to war, Hong Kong was pressured to advance its industries at light speeds. Eager to seize the initiative, we were looking to explore new business opportunities. Hop Fook Oil Factory was one such example. It was later converted into an industrial building.
1970
s
Having found success and direction, a new generation of leaders enter the business. Reigniting the entrepreneurial spirit and bringing new ideas and technology to the table.
1980
s
The 1980s marked a period of great change and growth for STC. Real estate operations increased with purchases in Kwun Tong and Tsuen Wan, putting STC on the path to starting its second core pillar, real estate.
Meanwhile, as the economy was booming, famous chefs from Hong Kong brought with them our Windmill brand potato starch to major cities around China, establishing a reputation in the mainland market.
1990
s
Receiving the praise of the top chefs in Chinese cuisine, the world began to recognize the beloved brand of Windmill products. As such, STC established itself further as the primary distributor within Hong Kong.
Following this momentum, STC expanded its footprint in the real estate industry by engaging in real estate development projects. Today, one self-developed industrial property is still under STC ownership, the Wang Cheong Enterprise Centre.
2000
s
Sustainability and long-term growth had been the secret to keeping a continuous presence in Hong Kong for so long. Pushing forward, the decision was made to affirm our focus on the two pillars of our business, starch and real estate.
2010
s
Carrying on the spirit of ambition and pioneering, the third generation of leaders was inaugurated in the 2010s. In order to keep up with the ever changing landscapes of Hong Kong, new leadership was needed both to carry on the traditions and to innovate ways to keep in touch with the current market.
2023
Committed to serving Hong Kong and its community best, STC created its own packaging facility. Continuing our over 75-year partnership with Meelunie, we hope to reach new heights and bring new and varied products to match the needs of everyone.
CEO’s Statement

Traditionally, our company has always followed a paradigm of sustainability and long-term growth. This set the basis of our business in both food and real estate, an unchanging necessity to our everyday lives. Following over 75 years of rich history and tradition, we have gained the trust and reputation from families all over the city, and we have built our own family here at Singapore Trading Co.

Though we have made many achievements following our principles, with the ever changing landscape of Hong Kong, expanding in these industries brings new challenges we must face with modern solutions.

Going forward our company will make strides to grow and adapt with our plan – “A New Vision”. By nurturing an entrepreneurial spirit in our employees, our focus is set on implementing new technology and ideas to improve efficiency and surpass expectations. This ranges from the expansion of our product lines to streamlining our production process with new machinery, certifications and management.

Matching the needs of the market and maximizing efficiency will further solidify our company’s fundamental idea of sustainable growth. As such, cultivating the talent to adopt these ideals is an important first step in our vision. As we tackle the feedback from all facets of the supply chain, then we can best satisfy our community, clients and our city.
